Things to do on and around Seil and Oban

Cycling on Luing Seafari Adventures An Cala gardens

Go walking or cycling around Seil and Luing. Take binoculars to observe the wonderful birds and other wildlife, possibly including otters and dolphins. Play golf at Balvicar’s own 9-hole golf course – just on your doorstep!

Take to the water – go sailing or kayaking, or take a trip to the Corrievreckan Whirlpool with Seafari or Sealife Adventures. Fishing and diving are also popular.

Visit the gardens at An Cala in Ellenabeich and (just over the Atlantic Bridge) Ardmaddy Castle, or one of the many other lovely gardens in Argyll.

Join the local people at a ceilidh or concert in one of the local community halls.

Visit the folk museum in Easdale and the heritage centre in Ellenabeich for fascinating insights into the islands’ history. Further south, visit the Kilmartin Museum to discover Argyll’s pre-history – don’t miss the Museum’s wonderful café/restaurant.

For the more energetic, many of Scotland’s magnificent mountains are within easy reach – Ben Cruachan, the Glencoe peaks and lots more.

Have a meal or some real ale at one of Seil and Easdale's three pubs – the Oyster Brewery in Ellenabeich, the Tigh an Truish – “the House of the Trousers” – near the Atlantic Bridge, and the Puffer Bar on Easdale. For a more special meal, visit one of the many excellent restaurants in Oban – “the Seafood Capital of Scotland.”

Have a swim or a work-out at the Atlantis Leisure Centre in Oban. Afterwards, discover how Scotland’s national drink is made at the Oban Distillery, or take one of the many boat trips from Oban Harbour.
